A partner at Peterson, Baldor & Maranges, PLLC, Jose was born and raised in Miami, Florida. Jose began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney with the Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office. While at the State Attorney’s Office, Jose served as an Assistant Chief for DUI and traffic-related crimes, as well as a felony prosecutor. During his tenure as a prosecutor, he tried hundreds of jury and non-jury trials. Jose left the criminal practice in 2006 and focused his legal career in the areas of construction law, commercial litigation, real estate litigation, and environmental and land use law.
Since 2006, Jose has represented a wide range of clients in a variety of construction-related issues, including but not limited to contract negotiations, lien claims, delay claims, contract interpretation claims, material escalation claims, pay-when-paid analysis, change order disputes, payment and performance bond claims, liquidated damages claims, construction defect claims, suspension and termination claims, warranty claims, errors and omissions claims, and bid protests. Jose has also served clients in a variety of commercial and residential landlord-tenant disputes, real estate litigation disputes, and general business litigation.
Jose graduated from the University of Florida, cum laude, acquiring Bachelors of Arts degrees in History and Criminology. He earned his law degree from St. Thomas University School of Law, where he received awards recognizing the highest academic achievement in Civil Procedure, Torts, and Trial Advocacy.
